About Riley Jordan

Whether climbing El Cap’s ‘Salathe’ or ‘The Nose’ in 36 hours, first descents skiing Kazakhstan’s Tian Shan mountain range, or long rock lines in Cochamo, Chile, Riley’s desire to push his limits and explore beautiful natural landscapes has led him around the world. This motivation started at a young age growing up in Mississippi where Riley rodeoed saddle bronc and bulls and played football. After graduating from Mississippi State, Riley pursued a landscape architecture career in Denver where the Rockies drew out his true calling as an outdoor industry professional. His adventures skiing and climbing in Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, China, Kazakhstan, and Krygyzstan have shaped his life in many ways but his heart is in Jackson, Wyoming with his young family. Riley is an AMGA certified Rock Guide and Apprentice Ski Guide and teaches avalanche education courses throughout the winter.

Testimonials

  • Riley and Jerome were top notch. Excellent instruction and teaching was offered at every turn. Very personable guys that made us feel safe and confident. Very encouraging and got us through some tough mental moments on the climb. Degree of safety and folllowing procedures was unmatched.

  • Riley is a terrific guide -- technically very competent, professional but relaxed, good company and a really nice guy. I took my 14 year old nephew, who had never climbed before, on this memorable 5.8 climb (Guides Wall) and Riley made the day just what we hoped for: a stress-free adventure where I got to climb next to my nephew and never worry about his well being.

  • This was my fifth great climb with JHMG in the Tetons. Riley, my guide, was very accomplished, personable and made summiting the Grand an enjoyable adventure. At 56, I appreciated his patience and encouragement. Looking forward to future climbs.

  • Always professional, always personable, always safe, always considerate. They take the time to develop a plan with the client that creates a fun and challenging experience; also, they provide valuable teaching moments along the way. I look forward to using their services again.

  • Climbing The Grand with JHMG was one of the most incredible experiences in my already rich life.  I came into the trip a bit apprehensive about the climbing and exposure, but the training and guides not only made me feel safe and confident, they also taught me skills to improve future climbing experiences.  I expected crazy beautiful views and fun times and you guys delivered both along with an unexpected level of service, coaching, and camaraderie.  Keep up the great work and we’ll see you on future climbing and mountaineering trips.

  • Excellent climb with top-notch guides. Safety was the number one consideration. Our group of four all summitted, two had no climbing experience. Highly recommend!
