Phil Powers

Phil Powers has been an owner since 1998 and currently serves as company President. He previously served as CEO with the American Alpine Club and as Chief Mountaineering Instructor with the National Outdoor Leadership School. He has led dozens of expeditions to mountains in the Americas and Pakistan. He made the first ascents of Lukpilla Brakk’s Western Edge and the Washburn Face on Denali. In 1992 he made the first winter traverse of the Cathedral Peaks in the Tetons  with Greg Collins and Gary Wilmot. He has climbed two 8,000 meter peaks–K2 and Gasherbrum II–both without the use of supplemental oxygen. Phil is a certified Rock Guide and the author of “Wilderness Mountaineering.” He remains an active climber and skier and lives in Kelly, Wyoming and Putney, Vermont.
