About Jayson Simons-Jones
Jayson is one of a handful of American IFMGA / UIAGM Mountain Guides
and splits his time between Boulder, Colorado & Chamonix,
France. Jayson has over 20 years of experience guiding clients in the
mountains throughout the world in all disciples of rock, ice, and snow. Having
guided climbing and skiing expeditions to 5 of the 7 continents, today he
specializes in guiding mostly in Colorado and The European Alps. Prior to
that he was the Owner / Operator of Crested Butte Mountain Guides from
2007-2014, and had a successful exit via business sale. He is the former
Professional Avalanche Programs Director for the Silverton Avalanche
School; currently teaches and examines in the Pro 1 and Pro 2
Avalanche Education Tract for both SAS and the American Avalanche
Institute; is a founding member and forecaster for the Crested Butte
Avalanche Center; and is currently an Instructor / Examiner with the
AMGA. When not guiding, Jayson can be found behind a camera lens as a
professional photographer and has had some of his images published in:
Backcountry Magazine, National Geographic Adventure, The New York
Times, The Denver Post, Alpinist, Rock & Ice, Climbing Magazine, Ski
Magazine, and more.
