Your Guide Service for Jackson Hole & Beyond

Since 1968, The Mountain Guides, formerly Jackson Hole Mountain Guides, has grown from its local climbing school roots in the Tetons into a national guide service connecting adventurers to the best climbing, backcountry skiing, mountaineering, and avalanche education in the Rocky Mountain West. We operate across Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, and Nevada — from Grand Teton National Park and the Wind River Range to Rocky Mountain National Park, the Wasatch, and Moab’s desert towers.

As an AMGA-accredited guide service, authorized National Park Service concessioner, and U.S. Forest Service permittee, we hold ourselves to the highest professional standards in the industry. Whether you’re a first-time climber, an experienced backcountry skier, or looking to earn your AIARE avalanche certification, The Mountain Guides has a program for you.

Climbing Adventures

The Mountain Guides offer guided climbing programs for every experience level. Summit the iconic Grand Teton on a four-day expedition from our Corbet High Camp, tackle classic single-day rock climbs on Symmetry Spire and Irene’s Arete, or push your limits on the steep walls of the Wind River Range. Beyond Wyoming, we guide rock climbing in Eldorado Canyon and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, the sandstone towers of Moab and Fisher Towers in Utah, and Red Rock Canyon in Nevada. No prior climbing experience is required for many of our programs — our AMGA-trained guides will teach you everything you need to know.

Backcountry Skiing & Snowboarding

The Tetons are world-renowned for consistent snowfall and exceptional backcountry terrain, and our guides know where to find the best snow every day of the season. We offer private backcountry ski and splitboard tours on Teton Pass and in Grand Teton National Park, multi-day ski mountaineering camps, and intro-level clinics for resort skiers making the transition to the backcountry. We also guide backcountry skiing in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park, Utah’s Wasatch Range, and Montana’s Flathead Valley near Glacier National Park. Our AIARE avalanche education courses are available at all four locations to help you build the skills for safe, independent backcountry travel.
