Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the gems of the American West. With world-class alpine rock climbing, iconic fourteener summits, exceptional backcountry skiing, and reliable ice climbing through the winter months, RMNP offers year-round mountain adventures that rival any destination in North America. The Mountain Guides Colorado operates all of our Front Range programs in and around RMNP, with AMGA-accredited guides who know this terrain intimately. From our Estes Park and Boulder base, we’re just minutes from some of the best climbing and skiing in Colorado.

Climbing & Mountaineering

Longs Peak: Colorado’s most iconic fourteener (14,259’) via the Keyhole Route (guided hike), Cables Route, North Face, and the Diamond. Single-day and overnight options.

Alpine Rock Climbing: Classic multi-pitch routes on Petit Grepon, Spearhead, Notchtop, and the Cathedral Spires. Routes from 5.4 to 5.12 in spectacular alpine settings.

Ice Climbing: Frozen waterfalls and alpine ice routes in RMNP’s high cirques. November through April. All gear provided.

Women’s Craggin’ Camps: Two-day women’s climbing clinics on Estes Park crags and Lumpy Ridge. Part of TMG’s Women’s Network Climbing Series.

Backcountry Skiing & Avalanche Education

RMNP’s high-elevation terrain holds snow well into spring, making it one of Colorado’s premier backcountry skiing destinations. Our winter programs include private guided backcountry ski and splitboard tours, an Intro to Backcountry Ski & Splitboard Class for resort skiers making the transition, a multi-day Ski Mountaineering Camp, and a full suite of AIARE avalanche courses (Level 1, Level 2, Rescue, and Women’s). Hybrid format — online learning plus field days in real RMNP avalanche terrain.

Getting Here

Rocky Mountain National Park is roughly 1.5 hours from Denver, 1 hour from Boulder, and 45 minutes from Fort Collins. Programs meet in the Estes Park area. The park charges a $35 vehicle entrance fee (or use an America the Beautiful Pass).
