Wilderness Medicine Courses — WFR & WFA Certification in Montana & Nevada
Professional Wilderness Medicine Training
The Mountain Guides, in partnership with Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA), offer Wilderness First Responder (WFR), Wilderness First Aid (WFA), and WFR Recertification courses at two locations: Whitefish, Montana (near Glacier National Park) and Red Rock, Nevada (near Las Vegas). Our wilderness medicine instructors are experienced mountain guides who teach the WMA curriculum with real-world backcountry rescue context. Whether you’re a guide, outdoor educator, ski patroller, SAR volunteer, or serious backcountry traveler, WFR and WFA certifications are essential credentials for anyone leading or traveling in remote settings.
Course Options
Wilderness First Responder (WFR) — the gold standard, multi-day intensive. Wilderness First Aid (WFA) — focused 2-day essential skills course. WFR Recertification — keep your credential current. All three are available in both Montana and Nevada. Spring through fall. See our full wilderness medicine program page for course details, or contact us at 307-733-4979.
