Kids Rock Climbing Class in Moab, Utah
Kids Rock is a full day of top-roping and rock climbing for kids ages 5 to 12. Everyone learns a few simple knots, how to belay a climber and techniques for moving on rock. The emphasis is on safety, climbing and fun. Kids 5 to 12 must have a parent or guardian attending or participating.

Class Format
The Mountain Guides runs specific classes for young kids ages 5 to 9 and families. In Moab we use a local roadside crag called Wall Street: the approach is short and the climbing takes place in a lovely spot at the base of massive sandstone canyon walls along the river. Who This Class Is For
Kids 5 to 12 and their families; no experience needed. After a basic class, young climbers can repeat it or move on to the Intermediate class, the logical next step for middle-school-aged and older kids who want to learn to climb safely, and the prerequisite for multi-pitch routes. A parent or guardian must attend or participate.

Our Kids Rock class is a full day of top-roping and climbing for kids 5-12, Everyone learns a few simple knots, how to belay a climber, and techniques for moving on rock. The emphasis is on safety, climbing and fun. This class requires a parent/guardian attending or participating.
If, after the initial Basic Class your young climber wants to come back he or she can sign up for another Basic Class or move on to an Intermediate (described below) depending upon space availability and scheduling.
Intermediate class is the prerequisite for climbing multi-pitch routes, such as Ancient Art or Looking Glass. This is the logical next step for middle school aged kids and older children who want to learn more about how to safely rock climb.
This class requires a parent/guardian attending or participating.
Full Day Price: Private 1:1 – $380; private 2:1 – $240 / person; 3:1 – $200 / person; 4-5 – 185 / person
Half Day Price: Private 1:1 – $280; private 2:1 – $165 / person; 3:1 – $150 / person; 4-5 – $130 / person
Rock climbing shoe rental is included in the price of the booking.

For your safety and comfort, bring synthetic and or natural fiber clothing for insulation. Cotton is NOT recommended and down must be kept dry. Clothing should be able to layer without encumbering your movement.

Objective Dependent – Scarpa footwear is available at Jackson Hole Mountain Guides for rent. JHMG also carries a selection of rock shoes for rent.
- Sticky Rubber Approach Shoes: required for all mid-summer climbs. (mid-July through Sept) – Guide Pick: Scarpa Crux or Scarpa Kalipe (Available for rent)
- Rock Shoes for technical rock (Available for rent)
- *Rock shoes are not required for Grand Teton Prep Day class

Cold Weather Considerations:
Early and late-season temperatures require warmer clothing. You may consider additional clothing if you get cold easily or if it is unusually cold or windy.

**Jackson Hole Mountain Guides supplies all the rock climbing gear, harnesses, helmets, locking carabiners & belay/rappel devices, crampons, and ice axes. However, you are welcome to bring your own equipment. Please coordinate with our office for gear checks. Backpacks, rock shoes, and boots can all be rented in our Jackson office.
