The Mountain Guides Montana would like to take you back to a simpler time of dirt roads and quiet mountain crags. Our full day rock climbing trips are based out of our largest and most diverse climbing area. With more than 500 routes, Stone Hill has something for everyone. At The Mountain Guides Montana, you will have the opportunity to speak with us directly in order to plan the finer details. We pride ourselves on our customer service and the ability to craft an experience that fits your groups specific needs and objectives. Below we have some example of itineraries that we commonly run for clients. These are meant to give guests an idea of what is possible. Each trip is a private trip with your own personal guide and we can accommodate most goals and objectives. Designed for the active client, our full day intro to climbing is a great immersion experience into one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Our full-day intro to climbing trips are designed for those who are interested in a new adventure and want to learn the basics. Our guides will provide you with a strong foundation of understanding in knots, belaying and principles of rock climbing. Our goal is to create a space for you to learn and feel comfortable while challenging yourself and exploring the vertical world. Â

Spend the day in the quiet corners of Montana on a family rock climbing adventure. We specialize in creating multi-generational adventures that are inclusive and fun. A full-day experience takes away the pressure of time and allows you and your family to climb when the inspiration hits. Â
Our guides will coordinate the ideal rock climbing experience based on your family’s individual abilities and desires. Previous family clients have found rock climbing to be a great way to accommodate everyone while having fun, improving communication and creating trust between members. We are able to accommodate climbers ages 5 and up and we ask that parents or guardians accompany even if they are not planning on climbing. Â

Our foundations in climbing programs are designed to help recreational climbers feel more confident. We focus on designing a day that will allow clients to take their skills to the next level while also getting in a fun day of climbing. Your day will be broken up into a balanced mix of skill-building clinics and climbing. The full-day allows the flexibility to do both and to utilize time while we are resting to work out our brains. We work with clients to determine the exact curriculum depending on personal goals and objectives. Common areas of focus are anchor building, Intro to sport lead climbing and Intro to traditional lead climbing and intro to multi-pitch climbing. Â

The Mountain Guides will provide you with all of your personal equipment needs for rock climbing including; harness, shoes, chalk bag, helmet and belay/rappel devices.
Montana Weather – It can be sunny one moment and raining the next or both at the same time. Mornings and evening are cold and daytime is hot. Bring layers for everything. We live in a dry climate and our bodies need water, hydrate the night before your climb/ hike and be sure to bring more with you. Consider freezing your water bottles or putting ice in them. Light-colored and loose-fitting clothes will help keep you cool.

Directions to Stone Hill Climbing Area:
We meet our guests at the specific climbing area at the beginning of the trip.Â

Stone Hill:
- From Whitefish, head north on Hwy 93 toward the town of Eureka Montana (52 miles).
- When you reach the north end of the town of Eureka, make a left onto MT Hwy 37.
- Drive on Hwy 37 until you see the large suspension bridge that crosses the reservoir. Â
- Park in the visitor parking lot at the bridge to meet your guide
- From the parking lot you will caravan with your guide to the exact location of your crag.  Â

Because of The Mountain Guides Montana Whitefish, Montana location in beautiful Flathead Valley and proximity to Glacier National Park our venues for teaching are one of a kind. Flights come into Glacier International Airport (FCA) daily. Amtrak arrives once per day.
Are your trips group based or private?
All of our trips are private trips with you own personal guide. We do not mix groups.
Where do I meet my Guide/s?
You will meet your Guide/s at the climbing area at the start time of your trip. Please make sure that you are accounting for drive time from your location to the climbing area.
How do I get in touch with my Guide?
The Mountain Guides Montana office will be your primary contact for questions prior to your trip and any problems you are having on the day of the trip. Our climbing areas are out of cell service and our guides will not be contactable.
Do you provide Transportation?
We do not provide any transportation to or from climbing venues.
