Kids Rock Climbing Experience – Colorado Front Range
Introduce kids to the excitement of outdoor rock climbing with a fun, safe, and professionally guided experience in Colorado’s Front Range. This program is designed for young climbers of all experience levels—whether they’ve never climbed before or already have some experience in the gym or outdoors and want to build confidence and skills on real rock.

Gym to Crag Weekend
A two-day climbing weekend designed for gym climbers or outdoor top-rope climbers ready to transition into real rock. This program focuses on building the skills needed to climb confidently outside, including sport climbing fundamentals, outdoor top-rope systems, belay and anchor setup, and an introduction to lead climbing on bolts.
Whether you’re moving from the gym to outdoor sport climbing or learning how to safely set up and manage top ropes in a natural environment, this weekend is built to bridge the gap between indoor and outdoor climbing.
Optional Friday Evening Kickoff (1–2 Hours)
Join us at the Black Diamond Store Boulder on Pearl Street in Boulder for a casual meet-and-greet and ground school session. We’ll cover foundational systems, introduce key skills for the weekend, and get everyone dialed on gear. Participants will also receive a Black Diamond gear discount during the event.
Introduction to Traditional Climbing Weekend
A focused two-day clinic introducing the fundamentals of traditional (trad) climbing. This program is designed for climbers who want to understand gear-based climbing systems and begin developing real trad climbing skills.
Instruction includes following and cleaning gear on traditional routes, understanding protection placement, anchor systems, and movement on gear-protected terrain. For more advanced participants, the course also begins the progression toward leading traditional climbs with supervision and coaching.
This is the ideal entry point for climbers looking to expand beyond sport climbing and develop a strong foundation in trad climbing systems and decision-making.
Optional Friday Evening Kickoff (1–2 Hours)
Join us at the Black Diamond Store Boulder on Pearl Street in Boulder for a casual meet-and-greet and ground school session. We’ll review key systems for the weekend, discuss gear basics, and introduce the objectives for the course. Participants will also receive a Black Diamond gear discount during the event.
All-Women’s Climbing Weekends
We also offer all-women’s versions of both the Gym to Crag Weekend and the Introduction to Traditional Climbing Weekend. These programs provide the same structured instruction and progression-focused curriculum in a supportive, women-led learning environment.
Led by professional AMGA-trained female guides when available, these weekends are designed to build confidence, community, and technical skills in a comfortable and empowering setting. Whether transitioning from gym to outdoor sport climbing or beginning your journey into trad climbing, these camps offer a focused and encouraging space to learn, grow, and climb with others at a similar stage of development.

For your safety and comfort, bring synthetic and or natural fiber clothing for insulation. Cotton is NOT recommended and down must be kept dry. Clothing should be able to layer without encumbering your movement.

Objective Dependent – Scarpa footwear is available at Jackson Hole Mountain Guides for rent. JHMG also carries a selection of rock shoes for rent.

**The Mountain Guides supplies all the rock climbing gear, harnesses, helmets, locking carabiners & belay/rappel devices, crampons, and ice axes. However, you are welcome to bring your own equipment. Please coordinate with our office for gear checks. Backpacks, rock shoes, and boots can all be rented in our Jackson office.
