Women’s Climbing, Skiing & Avalanche Programs
Climb, Ski & Learn with The Mountain Guides
The Mountain Guides’ women’s programs are designed to empower women and non-binary climbers and skiers in a supportive, focused environment. All of our women’s courses are led by experienced AMGA trained women guides who bring professional expertise and genuine mentorship to every program. Whether you’re placing your first piece of gear on desert sandstone, making your first backcountry ski turns, or building avalanche decision-making skills, our programs meet you where you are and help you grow. We offer women’s programs across six states — more locations than any other guide service in the country.
Women’s Climbing Weekends
Our Women’s Network Climbing Series runs two-day climbing weekends across some of the best rock in the American West. These clinics are built for women and non-binary climbers transitioning from the gym to outdoor climbing or looking to push their outdoor skills further. Day one establishes a baseline — getting comfortable on real rock, reviewing technique, and setting goals. Day two focuses on individual progression, whether that’s climbing harder grades, learning to lead, or refining crack technique. All technical gear is provided.
Moab, Utah: Crack climbing on warm desert sandstone. Splitter cracks, desert towers, and Indian Creek classics.
Red Rock Canyon, Nevada: Sandstone sport and trad climbing just 30 minutes from Las Vegas. Perfect for a weekend escape.
City of Rocks, Idaho: Excellent granite climbing on hundreds of routes across all difficulty levels. A hidden gem.
Colorado Craggin’ Camps: Front Range climbing in Rocky Mountain National Park. Build skills on Colorado’s classic alpine rock.
Women’s Backcountry Skiing & Avalanche Courses
Winter programs for women include AIARE avalanche courses and guided backcountry touring weekends, all taught by experienced female instructors:
Women’s AIARE Avalanche Courses: Available in Colorado (Rocky Mountain National Park), Wyoming (Jackson Hole), and Montana (Whitefish). Same rigorous AIARE curriculum, hybrid format, and AMGA-accredited instruction in a women-focused learning environment.
Women’s Backcountry Touring Weekend (Jackson Hole): A multi-day guided backcountry skiing and splitboarding experience in the Tetons. Build touring skills, explore incredible terrain, and ski with a group of like-minded women under professional guidance.
Why Choose The Mountain Guides for Women’s Programs
The Mountain Guides have been guiding in the mountains since 1968, and our commitment to women’s programming reflects a belief that the mountains are for everyone. Our women’s programs are taught exclusively by AMGA trained women guides — professionals who bring years of guiding experience and a deep understanding of how to create an environment where every participant can thrive. We are one of the only AMGA-accredited guide services in the country with dedicated women’s programs spanning both climbing and skiing across multiple states. All technical gear is provided, group sizes are small, and every program is designed for growth — wherever you are in your journey.
