This Ski & Splitboard Mountaineering Camp is designed for experienced backcountry skiers and riders who are ready to push beyond standard touring and into steep, technical mountain lines. Held in the dramatic terrain of Rocky Mountain National Park, this immersive camp blends mentorship, technical instruction, and real-world application.
Through a combination of an evening classroom session and two demanding field days, participants learn what it takes to ascend and descend complex terrain while making sound decisions in serious mountain environments—all under the guidance of experienced ski and splitboard mountaineering guides.

What You’ll Learn
By the end of the camp, participants will leave with increased confidence and capability in:
- Ascending and descending steep, technical ski and splitboard lines
- Basic mountaineering techniques for winter and spring objectives
- Navigation and route-finding in complex alpine terrain
- Efficient transitions and movement strategies in steep environments
- Managing exposure, conditions, and terrain consequences
Instruction is adaptive and mentorship-driven, allowing guides to tailor learning to terrain, conditions, and participant goals.
Skill & Fitness Requirements
Participants must:
- Be advanced skiers or splitboarders
- Be comfortable on steep, ungroomed, and treed terrain
- Be capable of ascending 2,500–4,500 vertical feet per day
- Have prior backcountry travel experience
This camp is physically demanding and intended for strong, motivated participants.

Day 2 and 3
Meet in Rocky Mountain National Park. Participants will have the opportunity to ascend and descend some of the most amazing ski mountaineering terrain that the Rocky Mountains have to offer. Participants will also go over the following subjects in the park:
- Steep Skiing and Riding Techniques
- Ice Axe Use
- Booting and Crampon/Ski Crampon Use
- Skin-track Setting and Pacing
- Technical Transitions in Steep Terrain
- Basic Rope Fundamentals/Management
- Snowpack Assessment
- In Field Navigation
- How to Properly Debrief
