AMERICAN ALPINE CLUB

Generations of climbers have benefited from the work of the AAC. Join today to get global rescue service, the American Alpine Journal, Accidents in North American Mountaineering, hut discounts, and more. Membership also supports the country’s largest grants program for climbers, as well as vital conservation and advocacy initiatives that protect the places we climb. Discover the AAC for yourself at one of their events, like the annual Craggin’ Classic. Visit the AAC website.

AMERICAN INSTITUTE FOR AVALANCHE RESEARCH AND EDUCATION

In the mountains, a knowledge of snow and an ability to assess avalanche hazards is integral to safety for winter skiers and climbers. JHMG has a dedicated core of year-round guides that enjoy teaching a variety of avalanche courses. AIARE is a nationally recognized non-profit group, dedicated to keeping avalanche professionals in the field up-to-date with the latest in research, skills, and technology. JHMG avalanche classes are AIARE certified and our avalanche instructors are AIARE qualified. Visit the AIARE website.

AMERICAN MOUNTAIN GUIDES ASSOCIATION

Jackson Hole Mountain Guides is an AMGA accredited guide service. We support guide training and certification as a way for new guides to develop and enhance their guiding skills. We also facilitate AMGA access to mountain terrain important for AMGA programs. JHMG owner Rob Hess serves on the AMGA Board of Directors and owner Phil Powers was a former member of the board. Rob Hess previously served as the Technical Director of the AMGA, a position that put him in charge of the standards for AMGA courses, exams and Instructor Pool. Visit the AMGA website.

LEAVE NO TRACE

Our former and late President, Jim Ratz, was instrumental in the formation of LNT. JHMG is a partner with LNT, promoting LNT skills and ethics in all of our areas of operation. Several of our guides are LNT Masters and all are trained in LNT ethics. Visit the LNT website.

Black Diamond

The winds blow hard and fast at our Corbet High Camp, perched at 11,000 feet on the rocky flanks of the Grand Teton. Only the sturdiest tents survive these winds as well as the high UV exposure at this altitude, and Black Diamond provides us with these well constructed and bomber tents. Our clients enjoy the privacy of their own tents while at our high camp. We also use Black Diamond for our outerwear and technical equipment. Visit the Black Diamond website.
