About John Douglass
JD grew up in the mountains of northern California and was forever changed on a hitch hiking adventure to the high sierra. He left California in pursuit of the mountains heading to the pacific northwest, climbing along the way. One last push for an engineering degree lead him to Bozeman, Montana, where he first laid eyes on the Tetons from the high peaks of the Gallitin range in Montana. He moved to Jackson to climb in the Tetons and work for a river outfitter in the summer of 1994. JD learned to ski subsequent winters on Teton Pass and in Grand Teton National Park, bypassing the traditional avenue of the chairlift. JD have been fortunate to climb and ski all over South America, including Peru, Bolivia, Argentina where he worked as a guide on Aconcagua. He has completed his AMGA Single Pitch Instructor course and AIARE instructor training courses. JD is also an accomplished carpenter and artist.
